The show is inspired by the changes I have experienced within my life, now in my 30’s.
A friend of mine once texted me on Mothers Day cheering me on by saying Motherhood-the hardest of hoods, at that moment I thought that perfectly sums up the madness of navigating parenting and life at that moment. I felt seen and it made me think about all those moments in between that go unnoticed and unappreciated but without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. It made me laugh and think back on life and how different it is today. It made me realise that there are beautiful moments in the MUNDANE parts of our life. After all we are just mere humans existing and trying to make it in this world, sometimes just getting by one day at a time, other times sailing through feeling on top of the world.
With social media feeding us a stream of perfectly curated images of what the perfect life looks like we often compare our MUNDANE moments diagnosing ourselves as not enough. With my art I try to find and capture those moments or images that go uncelebrated and try to find the beauty of them by presenting them out of context. My work is a quiet recognition of those realities, and a reminder that beauty doesn’t always shout; sometimes, it simply sits in the room with us, waiting to be seen.
